I gaze upon you,
as you assiduously throw, the waters of my pool
Over your frame, to cleanse away the darkness of the night.
Your caution overawes me, as you, nervously, and yet with
well
Poised grace, do cast your gaze around.
Ensuring you will remain
Unscathed, and none may harm or there entrap you.
The deep dark hues of greens and blues, and shimmering glow
of
Majesty, reflected in the glassy waters of the pool, as you,
Circumspectively, do call to others, who in wait must lie,
to join you
In this freedom and contentment.
For soon, though I do not hearken your call, many do, and
there
Descend upon the water, as though it was, that some meet here,
was
Pre arranged, and now was taking place.
Each day I gaze, each day you come, alone at first to scrutinise,
Ensuring safety for your flock.
Each dawn of day, this morning sun, which lights your way
and dries
Your case, ensures that you can safely play, within the waters
Of my pool.
I gaze upon you, lost in awe, for ne’er was there, within
my life, a
More magnificent rite to behold, a sundance of the feathered
few, to
Celebrate each Dawn.
Then one at first, will leave your throng, and all at once
your host is
Gone, and you my friend, will thanks there give, and take
upon your
Flight, and all the mighty colours seen, each shade of blue
and pink
And green, no more reflected in my pool, just mirrored there,
The sky.
Away, your flock, and you are gone,
I know not where, some Otherworld, some other time.
I hear your song, yet see no sign as
Though at last the veil is drawn, which sits between
Our worlds.
And yet, if softly here I sit, and listen to the gentle fall,
of water,
Tumbling into depths, I hear the notes which she does make,
and
There upon the breeze to join, harmoniously
Your song.
All gone are the shimmering greens and blues, the purple haze,
and
The violet hues, the frenzy of feathers, once beheld, now
silence
Here remains.
Alone within my thoughts I sit, once more, contemplating water
in
My pool. A happy thought, that with the dawn, you will once
more
Return, and there will bathe, and share with me, the happy
freedom
Of your song, as I must start my day.
I welcome you, and all your flock, your beauty is my glee,
I know You well, though not at all, sweet messengers, you
be.
To share with you this time each day, is sweet reward
for all the toil, that I alone partake.
Sweet gentle friend, so blessed be, enjoy my waters
And therein, be rested and content.
