Belinus
Lines Composed in Summer 1993

Last eve, I watched the sun slip slowly from the skies,
That fiery, yet watery, disc of Bel, which lit my way this day,
Just seemed to melt into the earth, and pass before my eyes,
Cooling as it faded, like a love I knew, along this way.
This Morn I saw him climb, from behind me at first,
And try to catch me unawares, but I was there, heralding the dawn.
I saw the bright, golden disc return, like a welcome drink to a man of thirst,
And pensively did cast a thought, if all of life I’d view this way.
The trees, the birds, the grass, the sky, all take on new found beauty deep,
I look upon these things in awe, and see them not as I once saw.
Some of those things which passed me by, now cause my heart to weep,
In realisation of my Earth, her mysteries, beyond this door.
To call upon this hidden core of knowledge that my heart may grow,
In strength and light with every day, at night my heart remembers,
To hold this beauty in my hands, and teach of feelings that must show,
As i was taught, to find my dream, from loves now scattered embers.
Last night I watched the sun slip down, and leave this tired world,
into a place, though left unsure, I feel I may have been.
The night which came upon me then, as these thoughts were unfurled,
Then led me to this time, this place, where many mysteries, I’ve seen
